Kathy Connelly

As a natural collaborator, Kathy has helped for-profit and not-for-profit organizations work together effectively to design strategy, develop leaders and increase institutional capacity. An even greater strength is her talent for listening to everyone involved and forging a unique solution borrowing from varied, often divergent ideas.

Kathy started her career in the management development program with Old Kent Bank in Grand Rapid, Michigan, upon graduating from Western Michigan University with a business degree in management.

She went on to serve as Vice President of Human Resources for Monroe Bank in Bloomington, Indiana, and most recently as Senior Vice President and Human Resources Business Partner for Fifth Third Bank South Florida, which encompassed 63 financial centers in 8 counties.

Kathy has been a leader in the banking industry in modeling and enforcing strong ethical values, focusing on the client to always do the right thing. In her HR roles, Kathy developed and executed strategies to enhance employee engagement, sales force effectiveness and overall workforce performance. At Fifth Third, her region ranked in the Top 3 in the company for employee engagement. In two of her roles, she designed retention strategies that led to a 19 percent reduction in turnover. She led teams to recruit, hire, train and assess the performance of talent, directed succession planning, and ensured compliance with policies and laws to protect organizations from litigation. She also managed compensation and benefit programs.

Kathy has always been a strong contributor to the communities where she has lived and worked. She is passionate about education and human services and has provided significant leadership to United Way of Collier County, Junior Achievement of Southwest Florida, Champions for Learning (the Education Foundation of Collier County) and the South-Central Indiana Human Resources Association.

Originally from Michigan, Kathy and her husband Tracy, a VP of Development, relocated to Naples in 2005 with their 4 children. She and her family enjoy the many amenities of living is Southwest Florida
