Debbie Mathews Finch


Debbie is a Human Resources Consultant with 38 years of human resources experience. Her passion is providing HR solutions for her clients by helping them build their HR infrastructure through the cultivation of excellent employees. She is particularly moved to consult with early stage ventures and non-profit organizations. Prior to partnering with United Way of Collier County, Debbie has worked for the Hanover Insurance Group, SCORE Naples, and Citizens Insurance Company of America.

Alongside her business career, Debbie has had a long nonprofit career, specifically with the United Way of Livingston County, Michigan where she was the President of the Board of Directors and was a Founding Member of the Women’s Initiative at the United Way of Central Massachusetts. Additionally, Debbie has been involved with Junior Achievement of Southeast Michigan as a Board Member, and a corporator of the Community Foundation of the Greater Worcester area. She has taught in her spare time at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and was a Trustee at Cleary University in Michigan. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a BA in Organized Psychology.

Debbie and her husband have been full-time residents of Naples, Florida for several years. She taught at Hodges University at the former Center for Nonprofit Excellence, she is a Board Member and Vice Chair elect for the United Way of Collier County, volunteers as a tutor and Board Member of New Horizons of Southwest Florida and as a SCORE business mentor. She is an active member of the North Collier CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), is a graduate of Greater Naples Leadership (GNL), Class XXI and is their Class Representative, and actively participates with her church. As the HR Business Partner to the United Way, Debbie works with many of their Partner Agencies to provide pro bono HR and Board consulting services.

In April 2015, Debbie formed the Mathews Finch Consulting Group to provide business and human resource consulting services to nonprofits, startups, and small businesses. The Consulting Group strives to support organizations that are looking to develop HR and Board policies, procedures, best practices and to hire and retain top talent in support of their Mission, or Business Strategy

For Debbie, finding a way to combine her business experience, human resources knowledge, and nonprofit experience was the perfect way to give back to the Naples community. She is always looking to help make Collier County, Florida, a better place to live, work, and play!
