Caring for the Community

The Pacesetter Program

The Pacesetter Campaign offers the business community an opportunity to maximize their United Way experience and giving.

The Pacesetter campaign is conducted (and completed) before the annual campaign kickoff. The Pacesetters’ leadership and successful results encourages others in the business community to step up to the plate and increase their United Way giving.

Pacesetters create an early impact on the campaign with less impact on the business and the employees. Your United Way campaign is over before the busiest time of year…before the holidays and before the “season.”

Pacesetters receive extensive community-wide recognition:

  • Thirty thousand United Way campaign brochures, circulated through the business and residential communities
  • United Way presentations
  • United web site and newsletters for the campaign year
  • Local media

Our staff and volunteers can help make the company’s campaign a successful and rewarding endeavor for all. Here’s how:

  1. Make a corporate pledge reflecting your company’s commitment to the United Way.
  2. Let all employees know you support the United Way and attend key meetings throughout the campaign.
  3. Conduct a separate management campaign chaired by a top executive and complete prior to your over-all employee campaign.
  4. Kick off your company’s campaign with fanfare and:

  5. a. Allow payroll deduction for all employees.
    b. Name a top executive to chair the campaign
    c. Allow employees to tour selected United Way agencies.
    d. Hold one solicitation training provided by the United Way, as well as employee group meetings, with United Way agency speakers.
    e. Set a goals and offer incentives for reaching goals. Check United Way catalog for items to purchase for recognitions.
    f. Complete your campaign and have results to the United Way prior the campaign kick-off event.
    g. Celebrate all employees for their volunteer assistance and generous contributions.
