In 2005 United Way of Collier County launched the Above and Beyond Award honoring those individuals, companies and their employees for their commitment of time, money and expertise of their contribution to improving people’s lives and strengthening communities across Collier County.

Mae and Larry Block of Block & Block, Inc. public relations firm are recipients of the United Way of Collier County's inaugural Above and Beyond Award. During their many years supporting United Way on the Board of Directors, campaign cabinet and special events committees, the generous application of their media skills have increased public awareness of the United Way and its mission in the community. Whether it is the design of the campaign brochure, arranging for network coverage of United Way events or providing dozens articles to print media about the United Way and its agencies, the Blocks' efforts have brought our organization "above and beyond" our high level of performance.
