Tocqueville Society
The Tocqueville Society recognizes the donors contributing $10,000 or more annually. Alexis de Tocqueville, a 26 year old French nobleman, traveled the United States in 1831. His book, Democracy in America, was a study of American society and politics. One of the most important observations was the American willingness to help each other, sense of public welfare and the volunteer spirit of the American heart.
Members of the Tocqueville Society are recognized locally and in the United Way of America's "Book of Leaders", a compendium of the nation's Tocqueville Society members, those embodying the American spirit and heart.
