Above & Beyond
In 2005 United Way of Collier County launched the Above and Beyond Award honoring those individuals, companies and their employees for their commitment of time, money and expertise of their contribution to improving people’s lives and strengthening communities across Collier County.
2008 Above & Behyond, Outstanding Volunteer of the Year: Craig Bamberg, ASG

Craig Bamberg’s community volunteer efforts have impacted charitable offerings at the United Way of Collier County. In 2007/2008, he led the local United Way agency in raising $2.5 million in its annual campaign as its Vice President/ Campaign Co-Chair as the organization celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
In 2008, he was awarded United Way of Collier County’s highest honor of “2008 Above and Beyond.” His insight into processes and experience with people brings an unparalleled level of dedication and sophistication to the local charitable landscape. He has brought a different focus to United Way starting from the 2006 inception of the walkathon “Walk for the |
Way.” The organization then recognized him with its “2006 Super Hero Award” for these inaugural efforts. In 2007, his “I am United Way” campaign placed a local face on the local efforts. This identity campaign was new and fresh for the organization and brought attention to the agencies and the local volunteers involved. A formidable advocate for the thousands of people that rely on local donations, Craig believes that “charity does not have to hurt” and “if you are going to do it—do it right!” He finds and creates fun ways to raise money and bring awareness. Craig supports people that want to enjoy life as much as possible. He bridges those that help to those in need in a manner that brings a smile to all faces.

During their many years supporting United Way on the Board of Directors, campaign cabinet and special events committees, the generous application of their media skills have increased public awareness of the United Way and its mission in the community. |
Whether it is the design of the campaign brochure, arranging for network coverage of United Way events or providing dozens articles to print media about the United Way and its agencies, the Blocks' efforts have brought our organization "above and beyond" our high level of performance.
