$225,000 made available for Direct Assistance to Hurricane Irma Victims

Community Foundation of Collier County Provides $225,000 for
Immediate Assistance to Hurricane Irma Victims

Naples, FL (September 19, 2017) – The Community Foundation of Collier County,  in partnership with the United Way of Collier County, has purchased $150,000 to be distributed by Visa/MasterCard gift cards to Hurricane Irma victims from donations to the Collier Comes Together Disaster Relief Fund to help with immediate needs for food, water, gas, and lost income.

In addition, the Community Foundation has given $75,000 to Harry Chapin Food Bank from the Collier Comes Together Fund to total $225,000 in immediate aid given so far. The Collier Comes Together Disaster Relief Fund has raised over $500,000 for Hurricane Irma victims to date.

600 gift cards, valued at $250, will be distributed this week through the Salvation Army Naples and Catholic Charities to residents of Golden Gate, Immokalee and Everglades City who were affected by Hurricane Irma.

FineMark National Bank & Trust and First Florida Integrity Bank arranged the sale of the gift cards, waiving the activation fee, so the total amount can go to victims for hurricane assistance.

To donate to the Collier Comes Together Fund, visit cfcollier.org to donate online or checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation at 1110 Pine Ridge Road, Suite 200, Naples, FL 34108.  Cash donations are also welcome for those who would like to donate in person at the Community Foundation office.  Receipts will be provided. The Community Foundation is working with the United Way of Collier County to ensure that donations will be distributed where they are needed most.

“We greatly appreciate the help of our community partners in providing immediate assistance to the victims of Hurricane Irma,” said Eileen Connolly-Keesler, Community Foundation President & CEO.  “We know victims are in dire need in these hard hit areas of Collier County and we want to do what we can to help. These gift cards will help people purchase gas and food and pay for their housing.  Together, we can come to the aid of those most in need.”
